The brake system is probably the most important system in your vehicle. Improved design and engineering have
almost eliminated the possibility of total brake failure.
This, however, does not mean that you can take your brakes for granted. Just like every other part of your automobile, you want to take care of your brakes.
While there is no substitute for a proper diagnosis from a certified auto mechanic, here are some of the more common symptoms of brake wear and tips for preventive maintenance:
Symptom: My Brake Pedal Feels Spongy, It Almost Goes To The Floor!
Possible Causes:
Your brake fluid level could be the problem. Check the
master cylinder fluid level and fill with the appropriate
brake fluid to the marked level.
The master cylinder may be bad. You may need to replace the master cylinder.
You could have air in the hydraulic system. To fix this, you will want to "bleed" the hydraulic system.
You may have a leak in the brake's hydraulic system. You will need to find and repair the leak.
